I am a registered paediatric nurse qualifying in 2007, initially I worked on a paediatric surgical ward, transitioning into Neonates where I have been for 12 years. I have spent the last 9 years working as part of the Neonatal surgical specialist team in Southampton, which I am incredibly passionate about. I have experience of caring for babies with both medical and surgical NEC, providing the best possible care for the babies and their families. Recently I have undertaken a masters module in which I have chosen to investigate the use of probiotics in relation to potentially reducing the incidence and severity of NEC. I am keen to support NEC.UK to continue to increase awareness and striving to improve the outcomes for the babies who sadly develop NEC.
